AT THE U.I.L. STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET
Although the Bandera Lady Bulldogs would have loved to been one of the three teams on the awards stand at the 2010 U.I.L. State Cross Country Championship Meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Saturday, November 13, they were not able to achieve that dream; however, the 2010 Bandera High School Lady Bulldogs did achieve more than any other Bandera Lady Bulldog team has ever achieved by qualifying a team and two individuals to the 2010 U.I.L. State Cross Country Championship Meet, by placing third as a team at the 2010 U.I.L. Region IV Cross Country Meet, and by winning a third straight district cross country team title. In addition, at the 2010 U.I.L. State Cross Country Championship Meet, only one of the third place teams from the four regional meets was able to finish ahead of the Lady Bulldogs, while the Lady Bulldogs were able to beat both LaFeria and Zapata, which were the two teams that had placed ahead of the Lady Bulldogs at the 2010 Region IV Cross Country Meet.
Despite cool weather and strong winds, individually the Lady Bulldogs performed well as Alexis Torres finished eleventh, one place away from earning a trip to the awards stand, while Aimee Denham finished twenty-first. The other Lady Bulldog runners in order of team finish were Sara Herrera, Shelbie Martin, Elizabeth Elizondo, Ashley Dowda, and Kaylee Reeves. Running in only her second varsity meet, Ashley Dowda recorded her best cross country time of the 2010 season.
Congratulations to the Lady Bulldog cross country team on a courageous and confident effort at the U.I.L. State Cross Country Championship Meet, as well as on providing Bandera with the best cross country season in the history of the school.
